Okay, let’s get one business straight right off the bat: Family Guy is not, never has been, and never will be, The Simpsons. Nor is it South Park, King of the Hill, or any one of a digit of other shows on Adult Swim. But yes, it is in many ways a rip-off of those other shows (especially The Simpsons; let’s not even pretend otherwise). But so what? By now, you either reckon the show’s amusing, or you don’t, and the derivativeness either bothers you, or it doesn’t. Number 4 is likely to just underline your feelings one way or the other, since this bring together features some of the most amusing, and the most offensive material yet. It’s also the most organized. The show has permanently been incredibly erratic, rotary on a dime to fit in all those jokes from out of the blue that start with Peter saying "Boy, this is worse than that calculate when..." But by now, the writers and series creator/executive producer Seth MacFarlane have figured out how to more seamlessly integrate them into the show, and that’s just what it needed to really come together. In fact, the extra attention being paid to the show just in the form of swipes from The Simpsons and especially South Park (which dyed-in-the-wool an entire episode to trying to kill off Family Guy) is evidence that this is probably the peak for the series. This number is 14 episodes, and stand-outs contain "The Courtship of Stewie’s Father," which gives more visage calculate to creepy ancient man Herbert (brilliantly voiced by Mike Henry), and "The Father, the Son, and the Holy Fonz," in which Peter starts his own church dyed-in-the-wool to Fonzie from Pleased Days. Of course, there is still the long drawn out question of who the real star of Family Guy is: Peter or Stewie? The small football-head gets his moments to shine in "Sibling Rivalry," in which he battles with semi-brother Bertram, and... well, pretty much every other episode, as he continues to get many of the memorable lines. Along with the extra features, over 40 deleted scenes, extensive commentaries, and featurettes, you right fans will get more than your share of laughs from this bring together, which is what you watch the show for in the first place. --Daniel Vancini

  1. I am sooo sick of all you people bitchin about the fact that Fox divvied up season 4 into a two volums set amd made them like $25 bucks each. If you look at a show like “Huge Like” for instance and notice that they only had 12 episodes but are selling their season at a whopping $70 bucks a pop, I reckon you will notice how freakin stupid you sound complaining about this. I mean if you like the show like so many of you claim then you shouldn’t care how much it costs (to a point).

Plus all of this complaining is just like that calculate when Peter…(Slot in Amusing Clip Here)

But really it just like one reviewer said if you aspire it buy it if you don’t then shut the (BLEEP)up!

  2. This is Season five. Season Six starts this month. Family Guy Vol. 1 is seasons 1 & 2. Vol.2 is Season 3 and vol.4 is Season 5. At any rate this will one of the best seasons on DVD. I can’t wait to see “Petergeist” again.

  3. Fine – okay – there, deleted…

What’s amusing, and ironic as heck – is that for all my “whining” you all complained about — that’s all your comments were! Whining about my “whining”.

I wasn’t even whining! — obviously, you didn’t scan closely enough, and between the lines. I was putting forth questions, thoughts, and answering some questions of previous reviewers.

The fact that what I, or anyone else says in these reviews – is taken SO seriously by some of you, is really frightening! These are our opinions, we’re entitled to them — and quite honestly, I fought for the right to defend them!

What everyone FAILED to realize (except a small few) was that I was griping about how THE NETWORK chose to divide the series — and WONDERED, if that would coninue – just to get on to a buck… THAT’S ALL. (stating that they don’t do it for other shows — especially shows with fans / fanbases no everywhere near as strong as that of Family Guy).

All you who left comments to my (original) review need to get a freaking life! Grow up, and certainly don’t say “I aspire the 3 minutes of my life in trade you stole” — and then waste 5 more minutes, telling me about it! DUH!

  4. This season is as excellent as the previous ones, if not better.

  5. Hell yeah man. I’am all in favor, people stop bitching soooooo much about ” AWW, there making me spend more money on a split season” it’s Family Guy for God sakes! If you are a TRUE Family Guy fanatic, like myself, you will pay the damn $25, the season is worth it and more, but if not switch to The Simpsons or South Park or some other second rate cartoon. Family Guy’s fanatics, keep the fight going, and pay no atention to these SHEEP!!!!!!!!
